New Big Game Rifle Club for SA

Yippee! Got word of a Big Game Rifle Club Branch being set up in SA.

The branch already has a committee, and about fifty interested persons on the list.

I have wanted to see one setup in SA for years, and have had suggestions about NE trying to set one up, but I'm not really much of a target shooter or into that club scene, so never progressed the idea.

However NE is fully willing to support the new SA branch to get it going and successful with various offers including some wine for prizes or whatever.

As said the committee is already in existence, a number of things done, and a few more things to be ticked on their checklist before the first shoots, but great news!

Plus a benefit is the insurance of having a range target shooting discipline added to our doubles and big bores in case the hunting legitimate use is ever disallowed.

Ben,

they do have regular shoots up in the Territory as far as I know, well at least a shoot or two each year.

See if Marrakai is able to answer and provide information. Or one of the other NT members from Darwin.

Mark,

I will look up my notes and post some brief info details.

Basically an SA branch of the BGRC. Range is I believe Monarto. Part of the SSAA of course.

Great to see this get up and running. We have had a Big Game Rifle group here in Tas for a few months now. I went along to the first session and I still reckon it was the best thing I have done in years - certainly proving to be one of the most expensive.

If you have not tried big bore it will be a great opportunity to give it a go.

Get on board

And while I am at it - and the subject of buff hunting raffles is around - the Tasmanian chapter is running a raffle at the moment - 1st prize is a Buff hunt with Graham Williams. Tickets are $50 each and there are only 400 tickets - so you have a very good chance. Pm me for details or check here http://www.ssaatasdeer.org.au/docs/safari_raffle_poster.pdf

Hope you don't mind the plug NitroX, burn the post if need be.

Cheers

Alex

Whoever the lucky person is with this raffle, they will not be disappointed as Graham Williams is a first class P.H. and a great guy to boot. I hunted with him in September 2007 and have the up most respect for Graham, his various concessions are tops and if a trophy bull is what you want, Graham has the grounds to allow you the opportunity to do so providing you do your part.

Hmmmm, better get a ticket myself and then I might have the opportunity to "Blood" my new toy that Alex Beer is building for me....

Cheers,

Jeff Gray

Alex,

No problem.

NE would like to support the BGRC's around Australia so no problem. I have sent a PM to both yourself and Alex Beer.

Good luck with the raffle, hope it sells out and sets up the BGRC Tas branch into a good position.

Great prize too. I have hunted with Graham Williams myself, and took a couple of buffalo and a scrub bull with him. It is a great hunt, one I would like to do again myself one day. I am going to buy a couple of tickets myself in the NT raffle.

Why not start a new thread advertising the raffle so it is nice and visible to as many members and visitors as possible. I will probably make it a sticky and a global announcement so if is well visible.

A great prize for the eventual lucky raffle winner.
