Baikal rifle inserts for SxS double

Ive heard about rifle inserts for Baikal SxS double shotguns. Has anyone tried the 45/70 inserts? I was thinking it might be a fun toy to play with since I,m after a SxS shotgun anyway. I thought I could use it as a shotgun on birds over a dam ,then put the inserts in to chase pigs with ,sort of poor mans double. Has any one tried them or know where I can get more info on them

I haven't checked into this, but a good friend of mine did. I checked with him today and this is what he told me.

They do make a set of inserts for their cowboy action DB shotgun. Basically, it is an entire kit, consisting of two threaded barrels, a set of sights, and one of the barrels has a cam is off center a bit.

What you do is install the sights, thread in one barrel, sight in the rifle, then tweak the off centric cam to regulate the barrels. You will end up with a 45-70 with 18 inch barrels.

He seemed to think the price was 249 for the kit, but he couldn't remember exactly. Given he ended up buying a Searcy 500 NE, I wouldn't expect him to remember.

Oh, yeah, when he did check with the importer, they didn't have any conversions in stock. So, do check before you get too carried away the thought.

I will ask my local gunshop to look into it anyway. I would like to try the inserts if they are not priced too high and if I can get them for a 28" barrel.

They didnt know anything about them or even seem too keen to check into it. They just asked "WHY".
Jeeze, there is no real reason why ,its just because I want to.

Too bad you arent in the states here is a decent buy on one. shotgun with inserts

Not sure about the Baikal inserts, but EAA has 45/70 and 30/30 inserts for their cowboy shooting shotguns:
