New Czech Firm to Revive the Brno Mauser Rifles
      #164716 - 22/07/10 12:06 AM

They plan to offer new M 98 rifles initially in 308 and 8x57 JS in standard and Lux versions. Hopefully, they will find a US importer and do well. The last Brno branded rifles were also offered with Damast barrels in top of the line versions - incredibly beautiful pieces to my eye. If someone here knows the Czech language, please try and post a gist of what their website says when you have time.

Thanks in advance and good hunting!

The web site has an English language version, although rather hard to find. The prices are quoted in Czech crowns (about 20 to the dollar) and the rifles look to be M98 replicas, not the BRNO models such as the ZG 47 and the ZKK 600,601 and 602.

On refurnished actions or newly made m-98 replicas? I still wish someone could resurrect the Brno m-21, m-22 and ZG-47's

From what I can gather from the article is that that they will be reproducing the Mauser 98 action exactly without modification for use in these rifles.

Hope this helps

These have been around since the 1990's. Their usual market has been Frankonia, under the Favorit series. I have owned them in 9.3x62 and 7x64. They use old VZ-24 actions that are in perfect condition. For awhile, some of their lesser actions were bead blasted and parkerized with .30-06/.270 tubes and plastic stocks and were imported into the US by EAA in Florida. Good shooters.

I should still have one the boxes somewhere. As I recall the boxes and manuals were marked Brno Model 98, regardless if they came thru Germany or Florida.

It's nice to see them available again worldwide.

Hi Kurt

Can you post some photos of the rifles please?

Does anyone know if these are imported into Australia, if so by whom?

Regards

If you have a Google toolbar installed on your pc it has a translator built into it. Click on the link that Mcleish has provided and a translator bar will appear below your toolbars asking if you want it to translate the website, and into which language. It isn't perfect, but it works. CZ claims it is a true M98, and from the looks of it, it has the typical European hogs back stock with schnabel fore end, open sights, it appears to have a three position Winchester type safety, and overall it looks to be a quality piece.

Now if they straightened up that stock somewhat IMO it would represent a far nicer piece.
