Guys,
Here is some more Alexander Henry eye candy for you all. I have had this rifle for the better part of a year and I have only recently taken some pictures of it that I'm happy with. Here are some of them.
Regards,
Jim

Drugs for the doublefolks...
Beautiful gun. It could be a nice little gun, for spring roebuck.
Thanks for sharing your new "fix"..

By the way, the man in the one picture is the original owner, Sir Walter Orlando Corbet. This rifle was completed for him in June of 1890. The initials on the case are for Lieutenant Reginald Heber Marion Durand who was the son of Sir Edward Law Durand. Reginald, unfortunately, died in France in 1917 after being mortally wounded while leading a raid on a German trench. He was the first officer in the 38th King George's Own Central India Horse regiment to be killed.

Jim, that's a truly beautiful rifle, and I'm glad you own it. I like the cartridge very much also. Very interesting with the bar action locks.
When are we going to shoot again?
Great photos too.

Curl,
We'll have to shoot again soon--just let me know when. I am currently working up another 577/500 load with paper patched bullets. These bullets weight 475 grains cast from 20:1 alloy and are as close to the original bullets as I could come without having a sample bullet or a drawing. I have some of these loads made up but I haven't shot any yet and I'm curious how they'll work.
Regards,
Jim

Gorgeous rifle. The gunmakers at Henry were something else. They seem to have just the mass the rifle needs, and no more. Gracefull shape, refined and understated. Just great work.
The damascus barrels are top notch too.

Bailey,
Sounds like you need to own an A. Henry rifle. I feel that way myself.
There was no rifle maker of the last quarter of the Nineteenth Century who could out-do Henry's rifles. They are sublime.

Curl,
I do see one in my future, along with a Rigby Bissel and W. Richards droplock. Your Woodward Automatic has a place there too :-)
Of all of the above, the Henrys make me start thinking of what I need to beg borrow and steal to aquire one.

Jim,
One of my fondest memories was of a moment when I was sitting on a bench in Florence Italy waiting across the street while my wife was shopping for a purse. As I sat there I looked to my right and noticed this beautiful brunette babe walking my way down the cobble stone street. I will add that she was doing an incredibly fine job of negotiating the cobble stone street while in heels. Anyway, as she past I had to check her out from head to toe and concluded that she was one of the most striking women that I had even seen (surely she had to have been a model). After she passed roughly twenty or so steps she turned, as if on runway in Milan, and flashed me the sexiest smile I have ever seen (less those thrown my way by my wife of course), then turned away and kept walking.
Your latest posting of your Alexander Henry pictures is hitting me in similar fashion to that Italian babe's smile, stunning.
Regards,
Buchseman

Very nice rifle. Just out of curiosity what is the tool in the fifth picture for.

The tool on the left is a striker nut wrench, shaped to clear the hammer so as to allow the user to remove the striker without having to remove the lock first.
The little Henry is a delightful rifle. I have been fortunate to both handle and shoot it.
