A sow with new Black Widow recurve...
      #162080 - 14/06/10 05:11 PM

I was able to kill this sow on the weekend with my new Black Widow recurve and a home-made wooden arrow:

I was also able to shoot a scrub cow with my rifle:

Good stuff Ben, Cant help but notice you use a Hill style Back Quiver. Most folks attach a second strap to them to anchor them with arrows closer to the ear not realising the whole point of a Back Quiver is to be able to shift it, tuck it under your arm during a stalk or pushing through thick scrub for instance.

More details though mate thanks, draw weight, timber the arrows planed from, broad-head used

regards Jacko

G'day Jacko,

Absolutely, it is really important to be able to swivel it around to lay horizontal at the waist through the thick stuff.

The draw weight is 65# @ 28"; the arrows were Douglas fir; the broadheads were 160 grain STOS.

It was a neat, one-arrow kill from about fifteen metres; she did a seven second sprint and went sprawling dead.

Nice pig - it should be good eating.

I used to own a Black Widow in "Grey Bark" (very similar to yours). It was smooth and a pleasure to shoot, but alas I sold it for a PSE X-Force (I need speed!) It likes pigs too...
