Value of a Type A
      #161143 - 29/05/10 01:31 AM

I'm a long-time Winchester collector, so I do realize how vague this question is...but what's the ball-park value for a high-condition Mauser Type A? I've had the itch for an original commercial/sporting Mauser for quite some time but I don't have a feel for a reasonable cost on these. And if the Blue Book is as bad on Mauser values as they are on Winchesters, it's a useless source too.

Thanks in advance.

I'd say it depends largely on the chambering - bigger bores bringing more interest and $$$.
There is a great example in 30'06 at Martini and Hagn for about $5-6K.
There are others around but I would expect to pay from $3500 up for a good one.

Thanks- I forgot Martini & Hagn had a Type A listed.

I figured the chambering would add to it...and I'd guess 9.3x62 would be a premium over the .30-'06?
