Just back from Idaho and took a decent boar in the mountains.

The bear and me with a bad case of wilderness hat hair.

I have not decided what to do with it yet. I already have one bear rug. I figured I would "sleep" on the idea for a while before making a decision.

I don't think it will be a full mount though, he's not a "huge" bear and I figure if I ever get to hunt a brownie, that would be the one to get a FBM done.

How long was he? Good question! I think a bit over 6 feet long. Age between 7 and 8 years old. Probably just under 300 pounds. As a fall bear he would have been pushing 400.

Since this was a wilderness hunt things are skinned and transported ASAP by horse to get it to town for freezing. So there is not much time to deal with size. I do know it is bigger than the first bear I shot a few years ago, but there are bigger bears than this guy out there. His head was kind of big.

He had a beautiful, full coat of hair. No rubs and no ticks.

This was bear #5 that I saw during my hunt, saw two colored bears and my guide also saw a big chocolate on his way out after dropping me off one afternoon. That would make color bears going on 50% for the area. So you sure don't have to go to Canada for color. Save some money on firearms imports! The two colored ones I saw were small (125 pounds) so I opted to let them go. A kid killed one of them later on in the week.

It was a great hunt and I hope to go back again!

The countryside was absolutely beautiful.

Christer, just let me know when you are ready. BTW- you can rifle or bowhunt, it is the hunter's choice on weapon.
