Ideas for sliding gun drawer in ute
      #158577 - 09/04/10 09:33 AM

Hi All

This is my first post on the forum and I have enjoyed having a bit of a gander in background for a while now .

I have a hilux dual cab and a mate and I are planning on going up north on a buff / scrub cattle trek next year so I thought it was about time to kit the old girl out properly. I like the ideas of drawer storage systems like the black widow draw systems and was planning to make one a dedicated gun drawer that will probably hold 4 or 5 rifles. I am after any feedback from people that have either built or used one.

Cheers
Davo

Hi Nitro

I have had a fair look around and found a couple of ones folded up from aluminium checkerplate, but I was hoping to build one up myself out of carpet covered form ply.

Of particular interest is what people have used to hold their rifles in place and if they have found it better to make a system where the guns travel in their cases or out of them??

Cheers
Davo

Here's mine.....

It's pretty waterproof, at least I haven't had water problems, but it does get dusty.

I suspect you're looking for something more sophisticated.

Hi Davo,

Have a look at the new "Landrover" add, they have a beauty.... don't forget that in a ute the tail "Jumps" about a fair bit and could damage the rifles, the other question to ask "Is it Legal"

Cheers,

Jeff Gray

9dot3,

That looks like a well made rifle drawer.
