.450 Webley RIC No.1 Revolver by A&N
      #157554 - 26/03/10 11:15 PM

For those Webley fans out there I post some jpgs of my RIC. The case has been professionally re-lined but the RIC is a peach. it has a 2 1/2" barrel, mint bore and 95% finish remaining. I'm not allowed (by law in the UK)to fire it and frankly I would be wary of doing so as she is 140 years old.
I like snubby revolvers and this is the Victorian equivalent!

Gents,

My location added to Google Maps page (Norfolk England). It is a nice RIC,took me about 10 years to find it after owning some tatty to reasonable .455 Webleys.
I have it insured for £1200. I am tempted to try the original loading of 13gr BP and a 220 gr RNL!
Cheers!

I'm in the process of tearing down some .450 Colt Fiocchi cartridges, to reload with FFFG, for a pair of Bulldogs and a 2" barreled M&P. Never passing the opportunity to be the Devil's Advocate, perhaps we should compare range results over the summer in this thread?

Condition is unbelievable Sir, go out, get some Pyrodex and have a blat, she'll be fine. I try to shoot bunnies here with a Ruger Old Army, never hit one yet but don't get much practice Are the daft rules in the UK still the same as before BPEBuff, i.e loads of aggro for black powder, special license, special storage etc but Pyrodex you can but 3 tons of because it's classified as a propellant, not an explosive ? best, Mike

Mike,

Thanks for your comments. Yes, things are still very draconian regarding handguns over here! Loads of aggro/form filling but us old diehards keep slogging on no matter how much they try to kill our sport and enjoyment. Perhaps one day the handgun ban will be lifted - funny how gun crime has rocketed by 300% since all the LAW ABIDING licensed owners handed in their guns isn't it? For the moment, I have to be content with just owning this fine old RIC without shooting it. I can have a Colt/Adams BP revolver on FAC to shoot but I have done that/got the video/t-shirt etc but my passion is in cartridge revolvers. SHOULD THE BAN BE LIFTED, I will of course shoot it - I have Swiss 2f and Pyrodex CTG but perhaps I should load it with something else? Original load was 13gr BP and a 220gr head - what would you put in it? I also own a very nice Colt New Service in .455 (not quite as nice as the RIC with about 90% finish) and I am applying for permission to buy a nice Mark 1 Webley .455 Service revolver which is a J. Blanch marked commercial and very nice. Can't shoot any of them of course - bit like owning a Ferrari but not the ignition key! It sucks but it's my way of hedging my bets because if the ban is lifted the prices on these will rocket....

Cheers

Garry.
