Some great looking deer those guys are showing up thread. Hope I can get one like them some day.

This past season we took a very special deer. ...Dad told me after he took this deer, that because for the past 20 years he had to take care of Mom who was in poor health, he hasn't been able to go deer hunting. This man introduced me to hunting 50 years ago and to get him back in the hunting fields after so many years makes this one special deer!!!

THAT is cool

What I do not see here are hunting stories. Would this for example be the place to post deer hunting stories? With deer season a month away and my first double en route, I would love to read about some double gun hunts....

Those are some serious chocolate horns as we say here in Texas. Great looking deer, do you have more pics?

Nice Mules there Ripp. That's a trophy I have yet to score on. It's amazing how expensive they've gotten for non-residents!

No doubt. Some are way out of hand. You can actually shoot a Cape Buffalo and Tuslkess Elephant for the price of one Whitetail on some of the Texas ranches. But the really strange thing is those ranches are often booked a couple years in advance.

ruffcountry-
You've got some nice Coues bucks there. I've only bagged one so far, in the northern portion of New Mexico's Gila Wilderness Area. But I would love to get a couple of more before I'm done! It's always fun to explain to non-hunters, or "less aware" hunters, why I spent taxidermy money on "such a small white tail"!

With all these nice trophy's I'm somewhat embarrased to post this little Whitetail 4 pointer. It was the first whitetail buck I've ever seen here, so I shot it.

This one's a nice deery moose @ 57".

This little guy was 675 pounds, hanging in skinned quarters, cut off at the hocks

Sorry Guys my post isn't so much about the deer, but my Dear hunting partner Katherine. Each time this post shows up I have been wanting to post this.

Here are two deer of a number of deer she took here in Montana.

This first one, a whitetail doe she took along the border. The fence line about 100 yards in the back ground is the Canada-US border fence

This one is her favorite. A little forked horn Mulie buck. It was the first hunting story she liked to tell when hunting story telling time came around-" the hip shot deer".

Her other deer hunting stories are "The spike horn", Herrett Head Shot", "Momma and babies" and "the get out of bed deer".

I said this post really wasn't about deer but Dear. You see this post makes me think about my favorite hunting partner, Katherine. My wife of 44 years Katherine died in my arms April 3, 2011. I went deer hunting only one day this year. It just wasn't the same without her.

DD

YOU have my deapest condolences...so sorry to hear of your loss..

Nothing I say can relieve the grief you must feel...but at least you had those times which you can hold dear..there are many who don't..

Take care..

I would love to read the stories that go with the photos. The headlines for them are grabbers and sounds as if she had a wonderful sense of humor. May God give you comfort, sorry for your loss.
