Low pressure .375 H&H loads
      #15595 - 07/06/04 07:37 AM

Gang,

I had a chance to work up a low pressure load for a DR chambered in .357 H&H.

This is based on the SAMMI max 53,000 CUP.

According to the Hodgdon reloading manual the following load yields with barnes 270 XLC bullet.

H414 @ 78g = 45,500 CUP therefor, 76g ~= 44,000 CUP

Add Barnes XLC bullets and reduce pressure another 10%

44,000 * .1 = 4400 -> 44,000 - 4400 = 39,600 CUP

Round up to 40,000 CUP.

40,000/53,000 = 25% reduction in pressure !

Groups are in the 2.5 to 3" range for both barrles.
