It's a poll on our Gov't's web site against Duck Hunting.

If you can go and vote it down, that would be great.

What stupid wording on the poll.

I assume to vote AGAINST a "Ban Duck Shooting" "question" one must vote THUMBS DOWN?

No where is the question clearly stated especially the use of these things - ?????

My comment on the comments section:

Well I am a duck shooter, but have no idea where these silly claims of the reductions in duck numbers are coming from, thin air perhaps?

Duck hunting is a great sport for the whole family, a great constructive character building activity for kids. What better than being in the healthy great outdoors in the cool of a dawn on a duck swamp. And great tucker later too, a healthy free range organic meal of roast duck!

Duck hunters are true conservations too, putting thousands of hours into real conservation, unlike the "greenie" preservations whom just want to ban ban ban. Seemingly they want to ban everything nowadays. Shame on them.

I'm thinking the result of the poll will end up "disappearing" and the results removed. Most of these anti polls just "disappear". The only ones that get exposure are when the "results" are what they consider favourable, ie banning something etc.

The poll went out to the duck shooting Field and Game Assoc email list, other club email lists, and numerous forums in Australia and where Aussies are members to get a decent result.

It would be interesting to know what total number of votes were cast, especially compared to other "Brumby website" polls (ie Brumby is the Vic Premier). I asked the webmasters for this, and will again.

The net result is too easy to manipulate. I remember an RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in Tasmania running an anti duck hunting poll. Shooters easily outvoted the greenie extremists, but suddenly well over a thousand votes in favour of banning duck shooting appeared out of nowhere.

I emailed the Tas RSPCA and threatened to expose the farce to the media, we had copies of the poll result overtime btw. Also with nearly 2000 votes cast in total, most RSPCA polls had less than a hundred votes in total that poll was VERY unusual. Suddenly the whole poll system was taken off the public site.

Helen,Helen,Helen,presumably you are one of the fauning sycophant brigade that throw themselves prostrate at fat old ELL ELL the most anti duck shooting protester of them all.

Funny thing is Helen, LL is just like me in that he doesn't really want duck hunting banned at all as its his own special little gravy train....where would he get the funds to enjoy those fat gathering feasts in those restaurants that he is often seen dining out in...(and on your money too Helen) if the donations to his cause dried up because duck hunting was banned?

I gather my fat from the plump breasts of rice crop raiding ducks....not from the Beijing variety like old Lozza does!

We have nine man made dams on this farming property and with us taking a few ducks in season is a natural way of the wild birds giving something back...lets face it there are more ducks than pre white man times simply due to the irrefutable fact that man made habitat for ducks (and other wildlife) has increased by an enormous percentage and thus the ducks have a choice in when and where they want water!


What do you do Helen in the way of looking after our wild ducks? Is your name on the F+G list of people that go out in their own time and make and place nest boxes for breeding ducks? Do you contribute in any way to our wetlands? Nah thought not,you just simply send a few shekels to old Lozza and his ilk..far easier eh! Oh and have a whinge online too...bet you own a cat!

I was going to add a comment on the poll site but was amazed at the articulate, reasoned arguments already put by shooters - they had pretty much said it all.

They aparently monitor the mac adress of the ingoing router, but if done on another conection it works.

Keep the votes going.

The large vote in favour of duck hunting shows the Victorian Premier they made the right decision in announcing a duck hunting season.

The large number of votes and the large number of comments show it is a hot topic and that especially it is a topic hunters are passionate about. Which means votes or loss of votes at the polls when the vic election next comes up. This year I think?

Sitting at -426 in our favour.

Reportedly over 10,000 votes were cast on the poll, so it was quite a close thing.

PETA USA was getting people to vote on it.

It has been mentioned in newspaper majors in Melbourne.

Good to see we won that one, at least so far.

Because the drongos that started it didn't win and are upset, their latest stunt is the teenagers "Ducks Arm-y" which is allegedly a bunch of young teenagers which are going to protest against the Vic duck opening this weekend in front of Parliament House.

The person that put up that poll has been mentioned as being connected with this group of youths.
