Africa here I come!
      #15379 - 01/06/04 12:43 AM

I am of for my next trip on thursday this week. I will be hunting South Africa in Free State and Limpopo Province. Sorry to say I wont be able to bring my double since I am travelling alone and the weight limit is only 20 kgs checked luggage. At the moment my package is 35 kgs so I have some drill holes to make in the stock before I go

Christer, that's just not fair! You just got back not too long ago. Seriously, have a great time, and don't forget to post pics here when you return.

Hope you feel welcome here in our country and enjoy the trip.Don't forget a jacket cause the Free State is cold this time of year between -3 and 3 but Limpopo has very moderate winter weather.

Ah you answered a question I had. I saw the large video camera on one of your videos and wondered what it was. Larger than usual. Is it the same one?

Mate,

35 kgs, I know you are going to get stung for excess baggage somewhere, at least if you have my luck or lack of it.

You will have to save that Blaser .470 double for a water buffalo. I'm going to pick one out for you in August this year.

You lucky bugger, another African trip! I'm jealous. Good luck.

BigFive

I just love South Africa. I know about the cold nights in the Freestate and will bring a Windstopper Flecce.

John

That is the big camera yes. Extremly good quality and as a matter of fact also used in some big movies made for cinemas.

Please mark a buff for me and we will se what cn happend in next year. If my movies goes well I have a really interesting idea....

Mate, are you sure you're going for hunting???? May be you will be able to sell your Safari to Discovery Channel .

Seriously, I always spend more time filming than hunting

You are not exactly right but almost. I am planning for a full time (60 min) hunting video which hopefully will be on the market next year.

CCHUnter, just climbed on the plane for the last part of his trip in Amsterdam. Will be arriving 20:45 Joburg were we will meet him carry his heavy luggage around And then head straight to the Free state. So we will hopefully have an animal down by 9am tomorow morning.

I will make sure we get good footage and photos. See you guys around the 14th again

when editing, please, whatever you do, do NOT insert a shot of you getting comfortable, sliding off the safety and taking the shot. I think it is cheesey and usually it is shot on a different time/day under different weather conditions. I like to watch a hunting video that is shot like a documentary, not a scripted work. However, you are the producer, so you make the rules. Good luck and looking forward to the finished product.

Just back home from a great hunt. Will tell more when I have pictures.

Adam

After the marvelous footage SafariHunt made we dont need a lot of retakes, however we did a couple after some hunts that was a little to quick to have a good story before or when you feel that you need to cut and want something that mark the end of one clip and the beginning of next. I promise you wont be disappointed.

I assume the video will be on VHS. Do you have the capability to tranfer from the European to North American format? Happy editing.

I am no expert, but that looks like one hell of a black wildebeest!! Hope the video sells well and finances your next safari, at one time or another everyone has thought of doing this, but most won't bother...hope the work pays off! By the way, did haveing a camera around change your hunt drastically? Did you have to pass on shots that couldn't be filmed?

Yes that is a big Beest.

I dont think we had to pass any animals even if we sometimes waited for the right position. The cameraman Frederik Cocquyt is a PH and that made it easier to catch the animals on video.

That Black wildebeest sure was a monster it stood out like a sore thumb from the rest of the herd but you will be able to see it on the video.

Hope you are feeling much better now CChunter ? The guys would like to see some more pictures, I'm sure!

I haven't taken a black wildebeest yet. Haven't even seen one in the wild. They sure are unusual looking.

Congratulations!
