Gentlemens:

I thought I would post these pictures on this forum, as we actually obtained this action throught a contact made here. My sincere thanks to that gentleman for making it available to us.

This is an original Gibbs Farquharson action, #92. It sports a 26" barrel with a full length integral rib, and is chambered for the .500-3" Express. The Turkish walnut stock and leather covered recoil pad were done by Mr. Doug Mann, an ACGG stockmaker. The restoration and metalwork was done here at the Mook Works.

That is a real stunner, well done.... Is it going to get used in Africa or similar ?? If so, the P.H. can leave his cannon at home as I would hate some of his rust or flaws contaminating that beauty....

Does anyone know of a book (like all the ones on the various shotgun manufacturers) out there for Single Shot rifles, with the information and history of all these great rifles?

The best books I am aware of are Jon Kirton's "British Falling Bock Rifle" and the series of Wal Winfer's "British Falling Block Rifles" which now includes 6 volumes.

Mr. Huvius:

The Gibbs logo was beyond saving. We elected not to restore it and leave the panel open for engraving as was done on the high end actions.

Thanks very much, have tracked down Jon's book + Wal's Volumes 2, 3, 5, and 6... 1 & 4 are proving elusive, but should be able to find them.

Thats at least a month of weekends reading (ie drooling) by the fire in the winter.
