1905 Mannlicher Schoenauer
      #153103 - 08/02/10 03:36 AM

Hello all,

I saw this posted on GunsInternational. Is this the standard stock for a M1905 Mannlicher Schoenauer? In particular, I'm wondering about the round knob pistol grip. I've seen another 1905 stocked the same.

Thanks,
Curl

By the way, here's the other M1905 I mentioned. Same round knob PG. Wonder what happened to the sling swivels?

Nice rifles, I must say.

Yes, the round pistol grip was standard on the early Mannlicher-Schoenauer sporters M1903, 1905 and 1908. About 1910 it was changed to the capped style without a change of model designation. There is no changeover point, as preshaped stocks were apparently taken from inventory at random.

Here is the M-S offering from the ca.1910 Stukenbrok, Einbeck mail order catalog. It shows the round pistol grip. Note, it lists the 6.5x54 M1903, the 9x56 M1905 and the 8x56 M1908, but not the 9.5x57 M1910. The 1914 Franz Sodia, Ferlach and the 1911 ALFA catalogs show the M-S with round pistol grip too.
