I now know that Hornady dropped that wonderful bullet .
I will be loading the Woodleigh SN RN in the 9.5x57MS/.375 Rimless 2 & 1/4" NE.
Are there any other bullet makes and types that would also be acceptable?
Hornady 270 grain Spire Point?
Nosler 260 grain Accubond?
Hornady 220 grain Flat Point?
Speer 235 grain Flat Point?
Sako 270 grain Power Point?
Cheap assed Remington or Winchester 270 grain RN if I can find one?
The Kynoch web site shows a muzzle velocity of 2,150fps from a 25" Model 1910 rifle. Would anyone like a touch more velocity, say 2,225 or 2,250 fps (for a 270 grain bullet)? That would stiffen recoil a tech; would it mess up your ability to use the sights too much.
Thanks!

Hornady 270 grain Spire Point? Yes but it is on the lower threshold of expansion range in the 9,5 M/S.
Nosler 260 grain Accubond? No experience.
Hornady 220 grain Flat Point? Yes.
Speer 235 grain Flat Point? Excellent bullet at 9,5 velocities and sized down in 9,3x57.
Sako 270 grain Power Point? No epxerience.
Cheap assed Remington or Winchester 270 grain RN if I can find one? Wow...if you could. My dream is a .375 RN Core-Lokt for sizing down to 9,3x57. Win's, no experience.

You missed one...the Hornady 225 Spire Point, a AWESOME bullet in the 57 mm case.

I sectioned a 225gr. Hornady SP - close to 1/16" jacket thickness. Should be a wonderful bullet, by Rod's testing and the deer he shot with it.
I-too lament the passing of the RN by Hornady. Their spire point works well on moose and the 9.5x57 should get 2,300fps as my M46 Husky does in 9.3x57 with a 270gr. I also get 2,175fps with a Hornady RN 300gr. sized down. The Hornady 300gr. Interbond is also a good one for the lower velocity, cup pointed or left as-is.
Another good .375 bullet for lower speeds and heavy game is the 235gr. Speer. Driven about 2,450fps from the 9.5x57, it should be a great performer according to the tests.

2450fps sounds pretty good for a max speed on the 235gn .375 Speer. Like the 9.3 270gn Speer, the .375 235 gn is pretty soft and won't like much more velocity than that. I shot a few of these with full loads in an early peep sight Brno 602 .375 H&H, back in the early 1980's, and had extreme bullet failure with the bullets totally fragmenting on medium game. At 375 H&H velocity they are too soft IMO, but should be fine at 2500 or less.

470; your experience is spot on mine {mid-80's}. I had awful performance of the 235 Speer on small deer.
But Daryl and a friend of mine both have reported excellent results {through and through shots} on moose and elk respectively.
Maybe these things vary as to lot and production run.

Maybe they also make them a bit stronger thesedays compared to the 80's production? When I was shooting them in the Brno 375 H&H, I didn't own or have access to a chronograph, but the load I was using should have produced at least 2900fps going by the Speer manual.

I have had good luck in my 9.5x57 with sierra 250 grain boat tails and 3031 powder.

Maybe you are right.
I don't know.
Here's a recent test with recently made bullets. Performance was similar in test media...to my general experience with the 235 on whitetail deer does although I have seen complete disintegration in deer, so maybe this recent test indicates a bit tougher bond between jacket and core.
As stated, a friend of mine swears by them for elk and he says he has had and seen {another fellow he knows uses them, too} mostly thru&thru shots with them.
The '80's bullets I used blew up into tiny shards on side shots on deer. I cannot explain it. Daryl's experience is in line with my friend's. I called Speer and they told me there have been technical changes over the years to the bullets, but didn't have the exact details on the changes.
Here's the test from last year. Compare with the others.
