These importers are really trying to sell their stuff no matter what. Here in the fine state of Kalifornia USA, these models have been on the market for some time now. They are converting semi auto AK's to pump action.. Even for as long as they have been on the market here, I have yet to see one at the range, I have seen them at show's and looked to be a real cluster @*%#450

That is the most ugliest rifle I have seen! They call it a scrub gun I think it should be cut up and buried in the scrub! I will stay with my scrub gun ,Browning 81 (Belgium) in .308 Win.

It is ugly but I would buy one. I still have 4500 rounds of 7.62x39 ammo and nothing to use it in.

BUT why buy one of these, they will be banned in 5 minutes time and with Australia wide registration they will know where they all are to come and get them.

I could buy a bolt action in 7.62x39 but at $1000 plus and considering the ammo is crap it is a waste of money. At least with one of these pump actions you could have some fun with it.

nitro - seems there may some cartride compatibilty issues with 7.62 x 39. I understand that SAAMI specs call for .308" bore/projectiles?? I have been told that US made sporting rifles such as Rugers etc, use that bore size, but ex military surplus ammo is .311".

I understand that Winchester Australia had to send back a delivery of CZ 7.62X39 Carbines because they were chambered to SAAMI specs, and were incompatible with the the surplus ammo that flooded into OZ when SKS's were legal.

It would be prudent to check out what these new jiggers are compatible with?

What ever happened to those Vektor pumps from South Africa I think they were in .223?

Can someone send a link to the picture of this rifle, it isn't showing up for me. Any specs for it?

Hi, have you still got 4500 rounds of 7.62 x39 ? If so I would be interested in purchasing wooden box quantity (1000 rds ?). I am currently doing a conversion to that calibre on an Enfield .303 No5 jungle carbine. Just waiting on the barrel makers going back to work on 18th Jan.

I can't see the pic but from the description sounds like a pump AK?

Century had them advertised for about $200 for a while. I wondered where they went!

Ruger Mini-30 barrels were at one time .308 and maybe still are, but chamber dimensions allowed the use of .311 bullets. I've never read of any warning against its use, too, and most in terms of #'s of rounds of ammo used in 7.62x39 is .310-.311.

I shot lots of lead core steel-cased .310 factory and surplus ammo from my CZ527; no problems at all and my daughter shot one of the biggest bucks we've ever taken on the ranch here with that gun and Wolf HP ammo some years ago. I got rid of the gun due to feeding problems but as for shooting, it was tops; Wolf HP giving 2 3/4 inch 5-shot groups at 200 yards. I miss the thing, but don't miss the misfeeding...

Maybe steel-core ammo would present some problem, but I also would find it odd that the CZ would have been chambered to SAAMI spec. Wouldn't CIP or their own milspec seem more likely? Anyway, we never had any trouble with a wide variety of 7.62x39 in our CZ.

G'Day Fella's,

As 9.3 and others mentioned, I can't see the image but I assume it is similar to the Pump Action AK's a mate of mine Legally imported into Australia, a few years back?

Unfortunately, all 400 of his rifles and scopes etc, were Seized by the authorities and never made it onto the Ozzie market!

Far Canel, can you please tell us, who is advertising/distributing these rifles in OZ?

Yes, just like NitroX /John and others, I have a Meter high stack of Chinese made military ammo, sitting there looking for a rifle to shoot it through!
Fuggly they may be but I'll still have at least one of them!

Ruger M77's in 7.62 x 39 were .311 I think.
The Stainless one's with the "paddle stick" plastic stock
with RUGER impressed in it.

2nd hand ones "were" in the $500+ mark at one stage.
For close in pig shooting they would be fine.

My wife has a crush on this little .223 remington

I've told her she gets one as her truck rifle when we get to Nevada.

I want to hang on the ammo, as one day I will acquire something to shoot them through.

Good luck on the project.

To the best of my knowledge/memory, the Ruger's (M77 MkII and Mini 30) had 0.308" barrel groove diameters, in this caliber (7.62 x 39).
