Great idea with the waterbuck, kudu and warthog threads. Keep posting. I have to scan some old photos to add to some of those threads.

But I love BUSHBUCK.

Here are a couple of mine. Please add yours!

This is the Limpopo Bushbuck I took hunting with Dantri Groenewald (BigFive) of African Bush Safaris
in September.

The hunting of this bushbuck was a little unique. Shot by using a ground stand on the riverine bush edges of large circular irrigated wheat fields. I was expecting closer shots and was using 300 gr Woodleigh RNSPs in a .375 H&H. We were spotting bushbuck at ranges from 90 metres to well over the other side of the field, about 800 metres.

A number of does came out to eat on the fringes of the crop and suddenly a good forty metres out into the field a big blackish buck appeared. While the field looked flat it had depressions and bumps so was deceptive. Animals could appear and reappear and the range was harder to estimate.

Estimated the range and took a shot, buck fell over but jumped up and ran into the very thick riverine bush. Damn.

The animal required a follow-up in thick bush. Circled around and entered the bush through a game or pig tunnel. No room to manoeuvre in there. Dantri pulled out his handgun just in case. Junior the trackers eyes were wide with the whites showing. Could hear the buck barking occasionally and spotted him moving off. Hard to see in the dark under the top storey of branches. Spotted him again barking at us and hit him again heavily with the .375. Luckily the animal was hit hard enough that he
didn't prove a true danger as his spine was damaged by the first shot and his movement was limited. Good exciting
stuff.

The photos were taken right on or after sunset in thick bush and required the use of a camera flash.

Here is another shot of the same bushbuck.

A very nice chobe bushbuck from Nemba in the Gwayi Valley, taken right on the banks of the Shangaani River. First time it was spotted, got a shot off and completely missed. Very upset, but no blood so didn't have to pay for it.

Next afternoon by huge luck bumped back into the same trophy bushbuck and this time did the deed and dropped him.

I had trouble on this safari with the Woodleighs not having cannelures (early bullets) and the projectiles moved under recoil in the magazine. My excuse anyway.
