MAUSER "STAG"

Hi to the forum members,

As a person new to Mausers, Can anyone please tell me anything about a Mauser "Stag" it is supposed to be a "Very old classic non military Mauser" in 30.06 and it has a very low serial number of V836 and has aperture rear sight and barrel band front sight. It does not state if it is a 96 or 98 or other and the Mauser Web sight has little info on older weapons.
