a boxer trains no one enjoys being punched.some think the 300wby kicks like a mule train with it its like a 3006.you have to be in shape and a hard core individual who can control a weapon.a fat couch potato who is old and has no muscle mass has no business behind these rifles they will get hurt after a few shots this is a sport you have to be fit and ready for the beast the trouble is when you can afford one of theses 600 or 577 you to old to enjoy long sessions shooting them or even carrying them be bore shooters have to be athletes to upper body strength is needed to keep the shoulder from injury balance to shoot well.like 9 stated people want this gun but they are not ready for it physically.to tame these beasts you need a strong back, strong arms and shoulders and legs to carry it on a hunt.if you want one of the its a commitment you will be the ultimate warrior.if you are a wannabe you will see a dr or specialist for the ligaments you ripped in your shoulder then you will place it back in the safe and puff your chest out and say yea i have a 600 nitro express.but you mind will say are you out of your mind dont ever pull that trigger again.so if you want one know you will need to train and get fit to shoot it..i took a survey awhile back and many of us are past the fifty mark.amd i am just guessing most of us are on the fluffy side.i can see many ER visits in the future the 600 is a different animal than the 470 0r 500

OK, NOW it all makes sense!!

IIRC you are a specialist ER nurse, bwananelson.

It is obvious your entire promotion of these guns is one crass act of job security for your profession!

You shrewd rascal, you...

Suddenly, a moment of clarity!

I need to start drinking.
This sense of lucid understanding was very refreshing, I need to beat myself up a bit so's to find that threshold again on the cusp of recovery...

Excuse my ignorance but who are EAA (I'm an Aussie). I can see an ever cheaper market for .577 and .600 NE's not long after they do come out, after everyone gets the crap knocked out of them. They will be selling them real quick. It will be great to watch on you tube, I will stick to what I know I can handle. But it would be fun to own a .600NE

Everyone has their opinions on this stuff, but I agree 100% with the post here about the .577 and .600 guns. Yes, yes, there are those fellows who shoot these big ones and in some way enjoy them, but most, meaning in my opinion, damn near all the fellows that buy these things will regret it, whether they admit it on a forum or not, and just as is said, this will be proven as the guns quietly slip back on the market. "Only Put 4 Rounds Thru It" will no doubt be a great selling point.

Fun, sure. Everybody wants a .600 or a .577!

And SOME guys {some guys here} actually enjoy shooting this sort of stuff. Good for them.

I admit it. My mind about these things has changed over the years. Mostly changed by my association with mean horses. All men that stand around the corral and look at the wild thing kicking dust up in the middle talk big about squeezing leather and catching a glimpse of the young gals winking but most of us that have a few gray hairs and have done it a few times would rather get a hug from the wife than hug our balls for a fortnight while we relish the memories of our equine conquest.

You can have the .577 and .600.

Or come to think of it. Maybe a guy could make a nice sideline business. Buy one and travel with the carnival. Charge $50 to shoot it so every wannabe bwana can say he did without actually having to plunk down hard cash for a wallhanger.

The above post has been my opinion for some years. In 51 years of owning, and shooting just about every chambering that was ever offered in a double rifle, I find, that the people who buy a very large bore double rifle for thier first double have plain and simply bought over their head.

You can always tell the guy that has never shot a "BIG" rifle when he posts the he wants to buy a double rifle, and expresses the desire to get chambered for 577NE, 600NE, or 700NE. You could always bet your bank account that he has never shot anything much bigger than a 7mm Mag.

It has always been my advice for a guy buying his first double rifle to start with something like a 9.3X74R, or one of the .450s, and to stay away from even the 470NE till they decide they are really willing to put up with the profound differences that come with a double rifle, as apposed to a single barreled rifle.

Bwananelson,

I told you months ago after talking to EAA that you would not see the 577's and 600's. You can see the post I started. I have 2=600's ordered and I am a dealer, the bad part is I will not be seeing them either. Maybe a 500 nitro in a couple of years ?

Just let me know when you own a 577 or 600 nitro Sabatti. I am 49 and I hope I live to see it. If Cabelas sales go well, ALL sales may go through them in the foreseeable future. We dealers got screwed !

ok thats one way to look at it. cabalas is not as stable as ie appears, look at the gun library dropping prices on mid to upper end items, slow economy, they sold off wild wings, they are selling mounts.bass pro and gander mountain are gaining on them. at the Sidney office said they don't want the plain version and they don't want the 577 or 600 that leaves the door open for more sales from sabatti and eaa.everybody wants to make money and the orders are there waiting.so i guess it comes down to who guesses right.we will see.the nea sayers said there would be no sabatti's to come out well that was wrong as we see. time will tell.cabelas may be big but not that big

Like you said though, some of the guys actually do truly enjoy shooting the really big stuff. So good for them, I am glad there is some big stuff still around. I will be glad take all the 577's and 600's that other people do not want!

Cabela's got robbed by one of their own - big nasty felony fraud inside job, prison time for some lame hack...

They've been 'adjusting' some pricing on some of the items that had gotten via the fraud racket, some things had been waaaay over-valued in framed-up purchases etc.
'Tis a mess for Cabelas, but they're working to get things ironed out.

Wonder why there had been so many TOTALLY SCREWY examples on their gun room sites of guns and rifles with prices that weren't even in the same ball park?
That (evidently) was this job at work.

We'll see about Sabatti and Cabelas.
I definitely hear you loud and clear on the tendency to monopolies and the loss of 'mom and pop' operations -- and the texture and richness they give to any marketplace.
I hope we don't see the 'pharmacy extinction' (walgreens etc) loss of local gun dealers and shops.

Cheers
