New Luger Carbines from Germany
      #129259 - 11/03/09 07:02 AM

Custom style Luger carbines made in Germany. Would somebody who knows German please post details when you have time? Also, if you know something about these guns, your opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and good hunting!

Gentlemen,
following my humble translation:

Lugerjagdkarabiner M-1900 2000
Hunting pistol Model M1900-2000

Historical Facts
Original pistols were made before World War 1 in the before-war-quality of DWM (Deutsche Waffenmanufaktur).
At that time Germany had colonies and and some settlers/farmers took these weapons over there, because the special features (long sight radius)and the high firepower were advantageous.
Also available for these pistols was a special kind of ammunition with more energy. Together with the stock the weapon could be used for self defense or for (limited) hunting purposes.
German pistols were also sought after by english and french settlers and military. Winston Churchill carried a Mauser C96 in the Boer War with attachment-stock.
The Parabellum-carbines were regarded as a rapid-fire device (before the advent of the machinegun).
Totally there were about 2600 pistols of the Carbine-version produced.

Manufacturing today

The hunting-carbine is currently produced only with use of original 08 pistol parts.
The systems are refurbished by hand and afterwards completed with new parts to the Luger-Carbine.
For production of these pistols we spend much gunsmith-work like the fitting of the system and barrels or the soldering of sight-parts. Due to our long experience and ca. 150 completed pistols we can manufacture really a high-grade weapon.

Additionally we offer an engraved luxury-version customized for your wishes and tastes:
i.e. gold-plated parts or tasteful engraving.
All what can be done will be done for you!

For the rifle version (non-detachable stock)the pistol will be welded to the steel base of the rear stock without any visible trace. The finished weapon has a length of ca. 72cm and meets the standard of the weapon-law for a rifle (min. 60cm). Additionally the magazine capacity will be reduced to 2 shots.

Prices:

Lugerkarabiner (standard version): € 2310,00
Lugerkarabiner (engraved version): ab € 4650,00
oakwood-box: € 249,00

Gentlemen,

Thank you very much for your very valuable suggestions and thanks to Rolf in particular for taking the time to translate the page from the website. I am introgued by the idea that someone would resurrect the Luger pistol and bring it back into production. I know that Kurt Nedbal produces them in Austria but only in 45 cal. And now we have a German gunmaker offering new Luger carbines . . .

This is a wonderful time indeed!

Hello Mehulkamdar,

be my guest!

Information for current 08:
Last year I saw a seemingly new 08 with current proof marks from Krieghoff.
The pistol was in mint condition and in a specially milled box of massive aluminum, the box following the contoures of the pistol!
The gun shop owner said on my question, that Krieghoff did manufactue some 08 before/during the second world war and these are rare collectors items. Now for their current anniversary Krieghoff did manufacture a limited run of new 08 pistols.
I do not know for sure whether they used some old parts and matched them with new parts, or produced completely new pistols without any spare parts.
Price for this pistol was about 3000 Euros (if memory serves well).

best regards
Rolf
