A Chapu

I have been asked by a friend to identify a shotgun marked "A Chapu", brought back from World War II by his uncle, a military policeman. It is a 12 gauge sidelock ejector model employing a Purdey triple grip type action with 65mm chambers, and marked "A Chapu" and "Paris" on the water table, serial number 6301. The barrels are marked "Choke", and in fact measure modified and full.

I have some photographs, which, with some assistance, I can post.

Any assistance with identifying the maker will be appreciated.

The one pictured was made in Paris and bench tested in Belgium. Any chance you still have that old Chapu?

The friend who owned it then still has it. I doubt that he is interested in selling it, but I can put you in touch with him, if you like. He is a retired doctor I grew up with, and as far as I know the gun has not been shot in years. One of the last persons to use it was a duck hunter who was knocked out of his boat by the recoil (using 2 3/4" Magnum shells, no doubt).

Those old double guns certainly recoil more than modern autos!
