Need advice on C&H 500x3" BPE

I's $5000 a good price for a C&H 500x3" BPE in good shotable condtion? I will have it inspected during the return period by a local expert. Does anyone load for this gun commercially?

No.

Don't ask 470Rigby though.

And welcome to the Forum. Snoop around a little and you will get a feel for value and quality in most Doubles.

Actually, before C&H went "downmarket" with the introduction of their American machinery just prior to the turn of the century, the quality if their guns wasn't too bad. This old "blackie" might just be one such???

I sold a 375 2 1/2 C@H recently. It shot many rounds and was accurate and a solid gun. It was the second C@H I owned. The other was a 500 BPE. I used IMR 3031 powder but can"t find the load as it was some time ago. As I recall it was 2 or 3 grains above the BPE load. This gun also shot well. It was tight and was shot many time before I owned it and when I owned it. Shot deer moose and bears with it. I sold it to a hunter in BC who was going to used it for bears.
