Blaser S 2 Safari Double Rifle?
      #13879 - 23/04/04 03:11 AM

Though I am thoroughly enjoying my Krieghoff .470 NE, for the fun of it I visited the Blaser website (after reading a thread about Blasers on the African Hunter forum) and looked at the Blaser S 2 Safari Double Rifle and was curious if anyone had an idea as to the cost of it in a standard / normal grade, say in .470?

Thanks,
Alaskan PH

The Krieghoff Classic "Big Five" is ~6000 EURO (~7000 $) +options

The Blaser S2 standard is ~ 3400 EURO (~4050 $)

So backman,

In your post over on the African Hunter forum your question regarding buying or renting a rifle for your Africa hunt was in regards to a double rifle, is that correct? I too found it a bit odd that you could afford a hunt to Africa but not a $600 to $800 rifle but if it was trying to afford a $5,000 to $10,000 double rifle then I can completely understand.

As a Master Guide here in Alaska, I would certainly encourage you to bring your own weapons, particularly when hunting dangerous game, as I find nothing more worrying and frustrating than when a client shows up in one of my camps and has only put 20 rounds through their new, big bore rifle. In my opinion, you should be intimately familiar with your rifle and everything about it and it's operation should be second nature to you; as when things get tense when hunting DG, how to operate your gun safely and accurately should be the last thing on your mind.

All the best,
Alaskan PH

Sorry backman,

It wasn't on the African Hunter forum that I saw that post, it was in the hunting section of this forum! I have to admit that I occassionaly get a bit confused as to which posts I see where, as some of us visit each forum. Oh well, no harm done!

backman,
sorry I wasn´t into the forum for some days.
For info check http://www.blaser.de/ klick "Active Hunting" for english version

There is also the US dealer
E-Mail: info@sigarms.com
Web: http://www.sigarms.com

If you want to buy in Germany I have to check how that can be done. Maybe you have to involve a dealer for a licence
Give me a few days and I will be back with info on that and how much it is.

Tom

Tom

Please let us know. I will be in Germany in Oct or Nov. and would love to save a few thousand on a single shot from Merkel or Blaser.

There's a fellow who sells them on www.gunbroker.com at pretty good prices. Just type Blaser into the search engine on gunbroker.

OK,
I checked with our authorities. It´s less complicated than I thought.
First, for exporting from Germany to another country (outside EU) you need an export permit. For the type of rifle we usually use (hunting rifles) there is no problem, we will have it within 2-3 weeks max.
To import your rifle to the US we need a copy (fax is OK) of a BATF licence. This, I´ve been told is possible to get for particular persons, but you can also use the licence of a gunsmith or dealer you know.

So, if you want to buy in Germany and have it shipped to the US you have to place an order for the rifle with all data of the rifle you want and your address and the BATF licence as well.
The rifle is shipped by air freight, I´m not sure how much that is.
Timeframe depends on availability of rifle in stock. You will get that info when placing or discussing the order.
If you want the rifle to be equipped with optics, no problem, even installed and regulated for the ammo you want. If you also want ammo to be included (might make sense for some specific european calibers*) this can only be shipped by air freight and you might order it together with the rifle and have it shipped all together.

*) better availability of cartridge shells and bullets for the 8mm or the 9,3mm calibers, for example

hope the info is OK for you, if you have questions, let me know.

br Tom

You cannot get the US paperwork until you know all the details about the rifle.....serial number etc. and you need an FFL dealer with an import permit.

If you place an order, you will have a particular rifle reserved and all data is available.
