New NoslerSolids Bullets?
      #137971 - 25/06/09 04:00 PM

G'Day Fella's,

I read today that Nosler have (I assume?), released a variety of New Solid, Big Bore Bullets.
"These solids feature a unique design and homogeneous Lead-Free construction".

They appear to be a Brass colored and (I assume again) appear to be machined and have "Multiple Seating Grooves" for versatility.

They include the following cal/weights;
.375" 260gr
.375" 300gr
.416" 400gr
.458" 500gr

Personally, I will be sticking to Geoff's Woodleigh Solids but after all "Variety, is the Spice of Life"!!!

Have you had a look at the South African GS Custom web site. Thier flat nose solid seems to have a better straight line penetration design than the 'typical' traditional round nosed jacketed solid.
The HV bullet also looks to add versatility to the big bores as well. Have read all the GS Custom reports and would be interested in anyones hunting experience with them.

G'Day Von Gruff,

Thank you for the tip on these bullets (GS), as I wasn't aware of them.

Yes their Solids are rather Flat Nosed aren't they!!!
I haven't looked to hard at their web site > www.gscustom.co.za ,so I'll go take another gander at it.

Hornady is also marketing guilding metal solids in solid and expanding forms. They slook similar to the S.African bullets.
I found a Canadian supplier for the S.African bullets amongst others, but failed to bookmark it - oh well - it's jut a google away.

It is the external driving bands on the GS Customs that seem to make the real difference and unlike the Barnes et al that have cut in driving bands it may be that double rifle users may have a mono that will not damage thier barrel jointing.

(edit)Sorry Homer didn't mean to hijack your thread. Back to the Nosler solids guys.
