New to Lee-Speeds
      #137231 - 13/06/09 07:42 PM

New to Lee-Speeds, I think there may be some subliminal messaging on this site. I "must have" at least a couple. Really like the look of the Lee-Speeds, and there is something about older firearms that have a story to tell. When I eventually acquire one, I am going to take it for a hunt

Found this one on Gunbroker http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=130840629

Is it expensive to import firearms from the USofA as an individual. Is there a way (legal) around the US laws about exportation of firearms.

Found one in RSA to, but they say it costs 8000R to export a firearm from there. They said they ship to some people here in Oz and will put me in touch, but makes a 400-500AUD rifle very expensive.

Are there any good sources of Lee-Speeds in Oz.

Where they ever made in calibers like 303/22 etc.

Regards

What's wrong with the laws of exportation from the US ?

Just do the paperwork and it's done, it's not hard.

No point in trying to avoid it, legal or otherwise,
that's why they are their.

Wasn't trying to avoid anything, poor wording is all.

If I wanted to purchase a firearm from somewhere like Gunbroker (a lot of the auctions say no international shipping, is that just the seller cutting down on work), what are the steps required to get it into Australia, apart from getting a PTA and I imagine a B709A and finding a dealer to send it to here?

Get it to a dealer in the US that not only has an FFL but an FFL that llows them to EXPORT Firearms.

They will do the paperwork - for a fee - and once done, it can be sent.

I believe they need a B709A to do the paperwork in the US.

I'd suggest looking for a Lee Speed here in Aus - much easier !!!

controlled_feed,

As to the auction you referenced, the rifle is classified as "antique" and requires not export permit. The seller says in his listing that he will ship overseas. What's the problem?

Any antique (pre-1899) firearm is not subject to regulationin the US. Your worry would only be on what it takes to import it to Oz, which I don't know.

I just last month exported an antique shotgun from the US to a buyer in England. No problems at all. He informed me just this Monday that he had received the gun through English customs.
