Trijicon RMR / Docter Mount
      #137817 - 23/06/09 09:03 AM

We've been working for several months to come up with a mounting system for putting a Docter or RMR type sight on our double rifles.

The primary objectives were:

1) Give our customers with "aging eyes" an easy-to-see alternative to a scope.
2) Minimize modifications of the rifle to accept the mount, i.e.: when the mount is removed, the rifle should look unmolested.
3) Mount the sight as low as possible.

I'm quite pleased with the results, and will get some better photos in the next few days.

In the interim, here is the mount with Trijicon's RMR sight attached.

I like the rifle, not sure about the sight (not a big fan of the "look" of reflex sights). Is it on a quick release? Have you thought about mounting the Aimpoint Micro series?

Nice wood. Who did the case colors?

The look is certainly far from "classic," but it is really the only viable alternative (other than a scope) for guys that can't see the sights (our average client's age is much closer to 55 than 25.)

The Trijicon RMR sight is shown in the photos, but I'll post some more pics of the Docter sight next (the Docter is quite a bit smaller - smaller even than the Aimpoint micro.)

Having tinkered with it for a couple of days now, I can say that it is quite practical and very, very fast (truthfully, faster than the open sights.) It does remove quickly with a large thumb-screw... so you can take it off for the photos if one doesn't want their freinds to see it on their rifle.

The case colors are by Jorg Schilling.
