Is this a fair price?

if it is sold, at that price it is

i dont know enough about the martini action guns to form a valid oppinion price vice, but they are commending a premium at the moment.

best

IMO, very much on the high side.
$6500 is approaching Farq. and Alex Henry money, and there really is no comparison.
Also looks to have been fully refinished, so a few notches below the top as a collector piece.
I don't know how many Martinis Westley Richards built, but period catalogs show them to have been at the lower end of their price range.
Would be a fun rifle though and I do love Martinis.

Gryphon,

Is that on the site as not many "Best Grade's" around.

I'll have a look and let you know.

$6000 is up there, it really is unless it is exceptional.

(Says me who will sell one for 3 times that in the near future !!!).

Going to look now.

Gryphon

You really would have to see it to know.

The photo doesn't do it justice, it's blurry, you can't see what type of Mauser Action it is, no serial number so can't check the date.

WR made a heap of different grades, some great, and some absolute crap.

So you'd need to check up first.

I know the guy selling it. If you would like, I could find out about it?

The bolt gun should be priced higher than an equal grade Martini though.
Of the two, I'd say the bolt is the better deal - especially if it is as advertised.

My takedown Rigbymauser in .303 should be priced higher. However....it is a prime speciem of a Martini, and absolutly a collectors prize...I would love to have it. If I came across on such gun here in denmark, I would be very very tempted to get it.

That equates to around 3500Euro.
Not bad options for you northern guys.

G'Day Fella's

I was the firearms dealer that advertised and sold this uncommon, Westley Richards M98, 1918 manufactured rifle.

Lots of recorded (family) history and the new owner actually knew the original owner (LA DeJ), when they were both living in Rhodesia!

And for your information, both the Old and New owners are very happy!
