Lion & leopard combo
      #136879 - 07/06/09 09:01 PM

Hi all.

I just finished a hunt during which the client wanted a leopard and a lion. We where unfortunate to have to shoot the lioness, as she charged us while we tracked her pride of 5 lions.

Hope you like!

Very nice, looks like the cats knows about you and your reputation of stranggling they are obviously not very happy with you.

That's the breaks of hunting big cats! I like both of them.

Plus I think the "thrill" of being charged by a lion and successfully stopping it, may also be a compensating "trophy" experience.

500 Nitro, she was about 12 yards away under a shepards tree/ bush, when we first saw (or rather heard her). She jumped up, growling and spitting, mad as hell, and about 2 seconds later came for us. I shouted to the client to shoot, meanwhile pointing my .450 Rigby into her face. He shot her with my 7x64, just off centre in the chest, from about 6 or so yards from me. (The client was about 3 yards behind me and slightly to my right. My finger was already starting to put pressure on the trigger, but I held off, as I wanted the client to shoot first.) She went down, still growling, and I instructed him to put a bullet between her shoulders, which can be seen vaguely in the photo. This kept her down. The rest of the pride jumped up from 20 to 40 yards away from us, but luckily buggered off shortly after the comotion.

Ndumo

Thanks

You've got nerve, that's for sure.

I know what it's like to hold fire in a charge (of Buffalo).

Top stuff !
