Maybe cooler than a Speed, well for a extermist "Made in Amerisa" sort of way.

I pinched the photos to post them here. It's a beauty of a rifle.

I thought I would bring this post back up to the top. Last year I found a Remington-Lee Sporter at my local shop, the action was in very good condition and the stock was original but it needs some TLC (mainly having the checkering recut and a revarnish). The main issue is the barrel had been replaced with a military mauser barrel. I've reproduced the factory contour, as best I can, from the stock inletting and need to have a new barrel made. The most interesting feature is that it is a 7mm. I'll post pictures of the stock when I can, here is the action.

One of the most interesting things about this is that a week or so after I bought it I ran into a guy at the same shop that had same original magazines in 7mm. I was able to pick up a couple of extra magazines for a good price, talk about lightning striking.

Here are some interesting photos of another Remington-Lee chambered in .30-40 that I found on Monty Whitley's website:

Quote:

RARE REMINGTON-LEE "N.R.A." {SPECIAL REMINGTON-WALKER} MODEL RIFLE

.30-40 (.30 U.S.) caliber, the barrel marked "SPECIAL REMINGTON-WALKER" and marked "N.R.A." on the receiver ring. Equipped with the special "POPE" windage and elevation rear sight. Retaining nearly all of the original blue, with excellent wood and minty bore. This is the rarest of the Remington bolt match rifles. The rifle previously resided in the Jack Appel collection and was featured in the sale.

I'd had one of the first contract Lees about five years ago, sporterized.

Really neat rifle but the recoil was stout and, before I was interested in sporters, even a reproduction military stock was impossible to find.

Very interesting photos, thanks for posting them!

I know where this is a mag for sale if someone needs one.
