Looking for multiple, common, commercial 8x57jrs load
      #131668 - 07/04/09 01:40 AM

I live in the states and have been putting off purchasing my first double for a while (I have been Rover shopping as well). I am going to call up and buy a Kodiak in 8x57 JRS today. I do not reload so I need to find a few loads that will shoot best with the regulated barrels. I noticed I can get S&B JRS fairly easily and am looking for a few vendors that I can easily obtain the round. So if you know US retailers who sell the round please post. Thank you.

Fiochi USA imports RWS Germany ammo. This would be a nice alternative. Norma should be available.

Try Ammo Depot

http://catalog.ammodepot.com/?right=search.php

just type in "8x57" and a couple choices come up for the 8x57jrs

Hi Jager01,

I have a Kodiak IV in 8x57JRS.

It was one of the earlier build models (1994 I believe) but after consulting with Pedersoli in Italy they informed me that they were regulated from the factory with the 196gr Norma load.

Although they couldn't tell me what load was used to regulate mine because of the early build date, it does shoot the Norma load the best and I have replicated this load using 196gr Woodlieghs and ADI powders (2206H).

The load groups well but shoots a little low and to the right with the standard iron sights, I hope to rectify this soon with the aid of more load development and filing of the second standing leaf in the express sights. I have previosuly replaced the front bead a couple of times.

It's a great solid little gun, a bit barrel heavy but conversely is so sweet to shoot (no recoil at all) and handy, due to the 22 inch barrels and double gun action that you'll be reaching for it everytime you open the safe to go hunting.

Shoot it plenty and take it hunting.

Enjoy!!
