I have read that about 1960/70 Kynoch anounce thay will stop making ammo for double rifles, ie, most NE cartridges.
How was that?
I would like to know about that because it was a turning point in double rifle story.
Thanks.

Martin

They only stopped because no one was buying........remember South Africa and Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) had sanctions against them , other ex-colonies were not really stable and many had civil wars raging, India had new restrictions on importing ammo and rifles, The gunmakers in England were not making the big nitro express doubles like they used to and the factory was most likely getting old and expensive to run, plus cheaper bolt rifles from USA were available in .375H&H and .458Win.Mag.

The factory was old.

My Dad worked opposite it and I went through the factory.

It was old school manufacturing.

John, I remember going into Abecrombie & Fitch in San Francisco in the early 60s and looking at H&H .577 Nitros and WR .470s for under $3500. Yeah, yeah, I only made that much per month (Plumber's Union), but still ...
