Fraser Mausers?
      #129374 - 12/03/09 10:18 PM

I would like to share some thought and ask a question.

For what I saw most of the Fraser Mausers are made on Spanish M93 or M95.
This is very interesting because those rifles should be made before Rigbys monopoly of Mauser comerce in GB after 1899.
Also, were those rifles what left after Spain change the 7,65x53mm for th 7x57mm?
This can explain why Fraser developes the .303 Mauser.
Thanks
Martin

I may be wrong about this, but the "303 Mauser" was the British designation for the 7.65x53 Mauser/Argentine/Belgium cartridge. It became the "303 Fraser" when the ratchet bullet was used. They all fit the same chamber. Fraser also developed the propriatory "303 Fraser rimless" to be used in the M93-95 actions having different chamber dimensions because they could not feed the 303 rimmed British round. I believe they later purchased the slanted magazine M98 actions from Rigby in 1900 to handle the rimmed cartridges. Fraser's serial numbers seem to indicate that rimmed caliber Fraser's were built after 1900. Any thoughts?

you are right Don.
I would like to know if Fraser bought the barreled actions from Mauser or only the action and use his barrels.
