Photos of claw mounts for MS rifles.

Guys

Have just received another set of EAW claw mounts for my next MS project and thought you might like to have a look.

These are for a modern Khales 2x - 7x scope. I don't have a rifle to put them on yet but I'm working on that. I will sell my 1903 takedown and hope to find a 1950 model 6.5. I'll restock and have these mounts and the scope fitted - and have a little brother for my 9.3

Cheers.

GG

Nice pieces there mate.
My gun smith uses Recknagel swing mounts which aren't bad ether.

Anyone else have additional pix of claw mounts?

Just a tip with EAW/Apel rings - because you have to stretch them over the scope tube, put some plastic tape over the tube first. Then when the ring is on the tube, move it out of the way and remove the tape before lining up the scope and clamping the rings. You'll avoid any marks on the scope tube that way. My 30mm rings were very tight to get onto the scope tube...

These are on a 1950 half stock 9.3x62 proofed in 1954. The front uses a saddle base on the receiver ring. The rear ring appeared to be a replacement, as the styling is more squared.

I watched a set of Rechnagel mounts fitted, not Mannlicher ones, (though they do make them), but the top rings were more than a half circle. To spring them, the installer placed an allen key in each of the 2 grub screws on both sides and simply tensioned them backwards to open the ring up. No scratches that way. A trick worth knowing.

Some of the oldest factory-made rings, such as the Akah rings I had on a 1935 Mauser 9x57, can't be separated in the usual way and the Landlicht scope needed to be dismantled to slide them onto the centre tube. They had enough adjustment then to be nipped up to tighten.

Here's the claw mount on my FN-Browning 9,3x74R double rifle.

3 shots do not make a group, they show a point of aim or impact.
5 shots are a group.
