Ah good you are Germany!

I used a translation machine-not too superb-so what is it that needs changing? and are the bores awful?

Viel dank!

Ben

Hi Ben ! I hope You understand that I will not translate the whole text but the most interesting parts of it.

The seller is obviously a german soldier that has been in Afghanistan and found the gun there on a market. There is no stamp telling the caliber on that gun but a company that knows how to do it said it is a .500 Black Powder Express 3" with slightly oversized chambers. Black powder rifling, good condition, few rust pittings inside and outside, not much blueing left, the extractor is stuck and cannot be moved, scars from the firing pins on the extractor, screws damaged, the forend stock is not original and most propably from a russian shotgun, the action closes like a safe, the engraving shows a tiger (left side)and a lion (right side) with rust pits on his head, stock is partially broken at the wrist area, another damage where the stock meets the action, the checkering is almost gone.

I hope that tells You something about this treasure !

Came accross a similar double Hammer with top lever. Marked Walsh Lovett and Co. No markings to determine the bore. Underside of the barrels is stamped Henrys Rifling A&T. Engraved with a Lion on the right and a Tiger on the left side. From the thickness of the chambers i think its a 500BPE but the owner claims to have fired 500NE ammunition. All parts except the wood appear original, the bore is good.

93 mouse,

It looks as though the gun has been removed from the auction for whatever reason. However, while browsing through eGun, I found this rarity: http://www.egun.de/market/item.php?id=2257821

It is a double rifle drilling, made by Krieghoff, with rifle barrels in .470NE/.470NE and 20 gauge 3" Magnum. For the man who has everything!

xausa

I could hunt with that.

20 gauge might be a bit light on for geese over here
but ducks, well, nice combo.

My Krieghoff Teck .458 WM O/U double rifle has interchangeable barrels in 20 gauge 3" Magnum, and it did well on ducks as well as sand grouse. Nothing like hunting ducks from a bright yellow native canoe and propelled by six stalwart paddlers!

What I shot was Hottentot teal and some coots for the local populace. The teal were exceptionally good eating.
