5 radial land groove barrels..

Reading an article the other day that the model 24 sniper rifles have barrels described above. Does anyone have any experience with these??

Allegedly they are suppose to lend themselves to being very accurate at longer distances...I have never had or used one...wondering if it is fact or fiction????
