Not just a big game rifle, but one of the finest medium bore bolt guns ever made!
Needs a little resto/preservation, but looks to be an un%^*#@!withed original gun.
This will start some drooling here for sure!
I will let the experts chime in here...

peter you may have missed my first line in my original post ,the rifle is not mine at all and I was asking on behalf of some one else...as is what is some thing like this rifle worth?

Is the engraving standard from Jeffery?

gryph

sorry my mistake, i really did hope that you got something like this up under your nails.

the gun in question looks like it is in pretty good nick, it is a very selllable caliber.

my guess (at a auction like sotheby's) would be in the 5-10.000,-£ at least. and on a good day a lot more.

best guesstimate

peter

gryph.

250 grains bullet at 2500 fps

300 grains bullet at 2200 fps

so not that far after the 338 win mag except this guy uses 300 grs. bullets as well, as far as i have heard the 338 is a wonderful and versatile weapon, so this would be the cats meaow as it also reeks of class, and dont have that ugly belt.

thanks to gryph for showing it to us, and i hope that it will be in a home where the caretaker has a understanding of the history that lies in this piece of steel and walnut.

For interest, here is a bit more info on the Jeffery .333 No.2-model bolt-rifle from their catalogue of the day:
Complete with loading instructions!!
No mention of the take-down, though!
