last day att work
      #127726 - 22/02/09 01:41 PM

Friday was my last day att work...
so i thought i´d put this knife together as the last thing i did before leaving...
the blade is made out of 12C27 stainless steel from Sandvik
scales are Orange G-10
length of the knife is 208mm 31mm wide and 5mm thick. the blade is 95mm long and
has a hammered texture under the beadblast..

I like the blade finish Rog, not overkeen on the colour of the handle but it would be difficult to lose it best, Mike

OK, here's one:
If I lived in any European country I would own a bunch of your knives, Roger. I particularly like your style, elegant simplicity. ...and some of your forge-welded blades are simply magnificent!

Unfortunaty its not a simple matter to import these things into Australia, and our currency exchange rate sucks at the moment.

But you are correct on the current offering: 'tanto' styling is not the average conservative nitro-express hunter's cup of tea, and the safety-orange scales are a bit over-the-top.

Nevertheless I hope your last day at work does not mean your last day of making knives. You are obviously a gifted cutler and the world of custom blades would be far less interesting without your fabulous contributions.

OK ROGER,I dont like the tanto point, however the hammered finish is magnificent.
Iff I was still working as a pro shooter every knife would have that colored handle so that they were easy to find on the ground.
I'm not much on fancy knives in the bush and usually carry an old Vitrionox boning knife and an 8 inch diamond steel.
All your knives are a work of art and you must be congratulated on the workmanship that goes into each one.

Al

PS.what do you mean by your last day at work ?

my bosses decided that there wasn´t enough to do att work for the amount of people we were..

so they let 4 out of 13 go...

i was the last of the 4... did my last day this past friday..

so we´ll se how things turn out...

Marrakai

i´ve sent a few knives down under and never had any problems (no extreme knives like double edged and so on.)

as for the currency exchange rate, i know just what you mean... same with the US $ the rate sucks big time...

6 months ago 1 US $ cost me 6 SWE kronor now it costs 8.95 SWE kronor.
the rate for the 1 Au $ is 6 SWE kronor.

so i´m hoping the worlds economics pick upp soon for everybody.

cheers
Roger

I like your knife! It may look a little strange to some folks, but to me, it is a very practical color. I can't tell you how many miles I have had to walk back in to retreive my hunting knife next to a gutpile where I had left it in all the excitement. This one would be hard to miss on the ground if you dropped it or started to leave it. Great Job! Good luck on your force early retirement. Keep making knives, you obviously love to do it and are good at it. It would be a shame to quit. Try and look at it as an opportunity, maybe this is your chance to go into knife making full time.

RSF,
I see this is a bit of a dated thread, but I hope you get the message anyway.
First, the design of this knife is not what I envision in a hunter. At least for myself. But then I had to take a second look. In fact, I printed out a pic and hung it up on my wall for thought.
I never liked the tanto point, but I now have a pocket folder with one and find it handy quite often.
The orange is a bit distracting at first, but I have left some good knives to join their place with the arrow heads and other artifacts of time.
I like the hammered finish. For me, life has become about utility and function. The pretty stuff gets left at home.
And thank the maker, it is not half serrated!
I have to respect the makers art and this is no exception. Honestly, I could put this knife on and by the end of a good walkabout, be hopelessly attached. My wife says I do not like change. But with each new purchase in the knife world, I am finding that change is good.
Use that talent you have and change some lives.
Larry

i like the knife and other than the orange grip, would find it to be a very functional and useful knife.
