That is an extremely neat gun, I don't know how you keep coming up with them. I see lots of people are paying big sums of money for "survival" guns that were crudely made in this country back in the 60's and 70's. They are absolute junk compaired to this sweetheart of a gun. This would be the choice gun to take on woods walks in the fall! Thanks for sharing it with us. Bob H.

Very beautiful gun, indeed!! Wow, how I would love to have that cradled in my arms on a crisp Fall morning with the sun beginning to peak up over the horizon and the squirrels rustling about. This sweetheart has squirrel and rabbit written all over it in it's design and function.

All these are Dad's. My brother & I just sneak em out and shoot em. The Adolph is his favorite and he has taken a truckload of squirrels and quite a few grouse along with the occasional crow with it. The peep is right on with stingers. I should have,and I will check with him but I couldn't find a date on it.

A little over thirty years ago a gunsmith friend that Dad had helped out over the years brought a man by that had several really nice guns he wanted to sell. They were all nice but at the time this one was his choice and he couldn't swing the others. The hole in the trap but had never been drilled for shells.

Do you know who it was originally made for or can you tell me what the initials are on top of the action?

How and were is the Adolph name marked?

Dale,

You and your dad are sure holding up your end of collecting German combination guns. They're all very nice especially the neat little Fred Adolph. I get a kick out of the extras this one has such as the extra wood work on the forend, the diopter, and what looks to be a bullet trap in the butt. I agree with m4220, it must be difficult deciding which one you want to take out to the woods.

Thanks for the new pictures, Fred Adolph used a lot of testimonials in both his catalogs and advertising. I’ll check and see if the initials match anyone. A very popular set-up, both T.R. Roosevelt (top picture) and Townsend Whelen (bottom picture) used a Adolph like yours.
