9.3x62 Ready for Africa

Well after a quick 6 months, she's ready to go. My Custom FN Mauser 98 in 9.3x62.

Now she is finished.

I asked my gunsmith for a dull rust blue and that's what I got.
The stock I did myself with 10+ coats of Tru-Oil and then 3 coats of clear matte spray polyurethane.
The blank is a XX grade wlanut Old English Style from an Aussie supplier, Geoff Slee.
The stock bolts are bespoke items.
The rings are a little high to allow the bolt handle to clear the 1-4 Vari-IIc scope.

I'm off to Africa with her in June to hunt Eland and Kudu. Thx to Bramble and AusHunter for advice and recommendations on projectile choice and Tilleyman for all his 9.3 work.

Will work great for the Eland , Bushbuck etc mate.
Any plans for checkering in the future?

Very nice and well done! That rifle and the 9.3x62 cartridge will handle Eland and Kudu very effectively!!

Tophet1 - looks great -

Now, get out and practise from all the hunting postions - hundreds of rounds - before going to Africa. That rifle needs to earn some patina on it before going East - or is it West? I suspect one of the worse things a PH sees when a hunter uncases his rifle, is a brand new, unmarked, obviously barely shot rifle. Ease his mind and shoot the rifle - a lot - make it earn some marks.
