next blade

Here is a pic of a blade thats going out for heattreat next week,
itīs made from a steel called Sleipner (made in sweden)
it is 10.3" long X 1.7" wide and just over 5/32" thick.
cutting length is just under 5.4" long

what do you think?

Ever get hold of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maraging_steel to make knives?

Maraging steels are quite interesting but unfortunately, contain insufficient carbon to allow their use in cutlery. While one could make a blade from one of these steels, the edge holding ability is not great.
