A Quality smith to tune and barrel an M98?
      #111795 - 14/08/08 09:58 AM

In search of a quality trusted riflesmith that is meticulous and dedicated when tuning and barreling an m98 receiver.
Needs to work with and be familiar with:
-original mauser thread form angles.
-H&H,Rigby,WR,or similar type barrel profiles
Would be great if they can also do a fine job on a new bolt handle.
Rifle is in USA.

Dave Norin in Waukegan IL builds some very nice rifles on Mausers. I am somewhat biased here because he is a personal friend but then he is also the editor of the ACGG magazine and he teaches gunsmithing at Trinidad State.

Gary Stiles is one of, if not the best gunsmith I have ever worked with. His attention to detail is incredible and he delivers on time, quality work. He is a true Mauser guy and is currently working on my 3rd mauser rifle.

I Do remember Gary Stiles switch barrel t/d M98 (.25/06 & .35Whelen) from some yrs ago.
Good to know he is still at it.

I can also attest o the quality of Gary Stiles work. He made this left hand mauser in 35 whelen for me.It is my favorite hunting tool these days. I have used it to take a few local whitetails. I will also be using it for elk out west.

IronBuck,

That is one beautiful rifle!

Do post more hunting pictures whenever you find time.

Good hunting!
