The fact is that there are going to be some very good deals on safaris during the coming year. Some will be from cancellations where another hunter has chosen to forfeit his deposit, and others will be from outfitters who are having trouble selling hunts and need to keep the cash flow rolling.
For those who do not have a bank account filled with funds ready for a hunt, I offer the following suggestions, which I have posted before. To those who have already seen these, please forgive me.
How to generate funds for your safari:
sell your boat sell your motorcycle sell your 4 wheelers sell your airplane sell your wife's jewelry sell your duck club membership sell your photo equipment except 1 pocket camera sell your telescope quit going out to dinner quit going to concerts quit going to movies quit going to sporting events quit buying CDs and movies quit buying clothes quit smoking quit drinking quit donating to the Obama campaign take your lunch to work sell your junk on ebay sell your antiques sell your extra car cancel your family vacation cancel your cable TV and spend time on the treadmill instead sell all your rifles except 2 sell all your shotguns except 1 sell all your handguns except 2 sell all the ammo and reloading components for the guns that you sold get bitten by a dog and sue the owner get a part time job (if your regular job will permit) work overtime if possible etc.
You get the idea.

Oh, and I forgot. If you are a polygamist, sell your extra wives.

But then you'd have to barter for your hunt with camels!!

But, but, you mean you can't have it all and still whine about not affording it???
Great Advise--and agree--there already are some deals ..but wait until this baby get worse---deals will be had...
In addittion to the reasons already mentioned, saw jsut last evening on how the Rand is something like 14 to $1..when I was there only a few months ago..it was 8 to $1..

The rand is certainly tanking. The dollar will only hold its value in the long term if there continues to be economic fear in other countries. Right now the Russians are buying dollars and euros like crazy. But fundamentally our trade and budget defecits have undercut our currency very badly.

Not taking anything away from 500nitro's posting.
In a related post I made an attempt to show the importance of proper prior planning in hunt affordability. Here the posting http://forums.nitroexpress.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=119386&an=0&page=0#Post119386

The problem with your theory is once you go---there is the constant yearning to return..
