How artificially is this lion acting?
I dealt with lion in the CAR, no discussion, as soon as the lion has a glimpse or a whiff of human, he'll scamp to the next zip code area.

IMHO it matter not a bit that it was a bow in this case. That was a sickening and disgracefull spectacle whatever the instrument.
I hope the "hunter" is proud when he looks at that footage. The PH should be ashamed for setting that up.

Larcher, don`t be ashamed to be a bowhunter ! This asshole that shot this poor tame lion should be ashamed to call himself a hunter. We all know this has nothing at all to do with hunting. I think we hunters should blame these kind of bastards because they ruin our reputation. It is wrong to keep our mouths shut, the urban public tends to generalize so we should condemn such digusting practices. Tony Sanchez did and had some trouble but I am quite sure he doesn`t care at all.
BTW, I commented this video on YouTube and other hunters should do the same, IMHO.

I looked at it and was stunned.

Question for you "Lion" guys.

The Lion looked bewildered, unsure of whether to run or stay !!!

Had the lion just been tamed by feeding and getting used to people or what ?

Can you explain how a lion ends up behaving like that ?


I am still amazed that something like that is posted on the internet for all to see.

He was doped up to his eyeballs. As Jean said, they just don't behave that that normally.

Take a look at his eyes, usually a Lion's eyes will blaze right through you........ that one didn't know if his arse was drilled or bored.

I had the word "drugged" in my original post but deleted.

The eyes were one thing I noticed, the other was the
"groginess" of the animal.

that was one of the worst cases of penned up (possibly drugged up) animal killing that i have seen...effing disgusting

the pen must be next door to the "guides" house as you can hear the dog doing its stuff in the background.

When I look back at at the video footage of the lion we have come across whilst hunting, none look that docile, that's for sure!
What a great stalk hey.
And RAS SAFARIS advertise their name on this junk.

The company isn't registered as a member of PHASA and I can't find any mention of individual names on the company website, so it looks like they're probably not members of the association.

Also as you don't know where it was filmed and there's no proof that what was done was actually illegal (albeit immoral and unsportsmanlike) you probably couldn't bring a case anyway.

I find it astounding that the client permitted himself to be filmed taking part in such a disgracful act. - I guess he's probably out ther somewhere boasting to his friends how he faced down and killed a ferocious Lion in the jungles of Africa with nothing more that a bow and arrow.

Ah well, I guess some people just suffer from chronic assholism.

Could it be that the guy shooting it knew it was an old cirkus lion and was told that it must be put down, and offered his service? And the guys with the camera took adwantage of it.

Well, i hope its that way, makes it easyer to sleep at night.

I was unable to watch the whole thing due to our slow download situation here, but I really do wonder about the details...

1} Where did it actually take place?

2} What was the cost to the "hunter" {besides his dignity}?

3} What exactly was the setup? {...the zoo cage in between the chimpanzees and the lemurs and right down the lane from the muskox and the polar bear?}

4} What happened after the hunt; taxidermy, etc. Where does this "trophy" now reside?

All that stuff would be interesting to know.

As a sidelight question...

What ACTUALLY happens to old zoo critters whose ability to steal the show has waned? I've heard tell that many of these concocted "hunts" are the last encore performances of a sizeable number of previously-respected characters who have worn out their welcomes exciting tourists at Wild Safari Six Flags Great Adventure-TYPE outfits.

I mean, once the hook gets dragged across the stage where does Sumo the Dancing Bear go? His options appear to be somewhat limited...

Agree with the other posts--have been within 100 yards or less of WILD lion probably half dozen times..they will NEVER allow stuff like that to happen...
