Don S has just acquired this rare and super clean Mauser S Kurz in 6.5x54 to his collection. He should post more details shortly while I drool:

Thanks Mehul. This is a scarce Kurz action Mauser built in 1924 having the kind of condition that collectors hope for. Collecting Oberndorf Mausers is not a hobby, it's a disease.

Super rare Mauser. I think only 7000+/- Kurz Mausers were made. My mother has one just the same - except (horror!) the forend has been chopped! Of course overall condition isn't even in the same ballpark as this one. I'll see if I can get some pics up.

A handsome rifle in an interesting calibre for a Mauser, considering the MS cartridge's diminutive head diameter - I take it that is what 6.5x54 indicates. It was a popular chambering, of course, and I suppose predates the 6.5x57, if not the Swedish case.

Paul: The Mauser 6.5x54 is different than the MS 6.5x54. There is a difference in the case dimensions. The Mauser round was developed about 1900 to compete with MS round. The 6.5x57 & 6.5x55 rounds were also from that time frame.
