`Sarge, if you headed for Blighty you`d be going in the wrong direction. Try Oz - Barossa Valley, Adelaide way is where you need to go ( You can`t miss the place, there`s a fancy pen with pheasants, guinea fowl and deer as well !

) Why not call in a few favours from the Pacific Fleet and take a cruise ?

Drat! Haven't been on speakin' terms with the Navy since Rumsfield took over and fired Shimseki. Likely I'd have t'walk the whole way. Damned nuisance, really. Still, good shootin' to yer and put a peacock on the barbie fer me, what?

My own peacock flock is underway now with the donation of a couple of peahens. Currently acclimatising caged for a few weeks before release in a deer handling pen/room. Now I need the essential addition of a peacock!

The State Department of Natural Resources that regulates public hunting in Hawaii has been experimenting the past couple of years with peafowl hunts. I've not done it yet, since it's only in a few select areas.

From the guys I've talked to they hunt them like turkeys, with calls (the recomended goose calls...), calling them in a then shooting them.

While upland bird hunting I there was one in thick brush but it proved impossible to get him to flush and he avoided me. I'm quite curious to try again. I heard him, but never managed to see him.

There were, some years ago, some feral peacocks on an island not a million miles from thee and me

Every morning at the family farm has me looking for the 425 when one of those f$^@$n Birds honk and scream in front of my window oh so early.

It's been a long time since I've checked the forums and I happened to see this post. My dad and grandfather lived in India back in the 70's. They used to take hunting trips all over the continent. My dad used to tell me how they would hunt peacock. They would get several beaters in the bush and they would drive the peacocks towards a gulley where they would fly(or run around the gulley). He always told me how difficult they were to hunt and that they were delicious table fare. Not sure where they were hunting but they only went after them in specific areas. I've always wanted to hunt india because of all my dad's stories of the fabulous bird(upland and waterfowl) and sambar hunting.

I help feed a whole heap in the NT every year,
bloody noisy buggers.

I'd shoot and eat one - or more if allowed.
