The .375 appears to be based on an original Oberndorf Magnum action, although the altered bolt handle is an abomination and the much too high Akeh side mount certainly doesn't add to the desirabilty of the weapon.

The .416 is obviously based on a Brno ZKK 602 action (and barrel?), and no matter how much it is dolled up, a Brno remains a Brno. I would say both rifles are seriously overpriced, but who knows what the buying public is willing to pay?

The standard to the gold inlay name and address and caliber marking on the 375 would give me some pause as to the authenticity of this rifle.
And I've just enlarged some of the pics, the wood is nasty and the finish on the rear express sight very poor. The guard screws are not timed

IMHO this is either a terrible refinish or a fake.

Refinish, both perhaps late 50's early 60's? (and lousy engraving)

The more I look at it the more it screams snide. The forend seems ill proportioned as well. ??

The Brno could be an early Paul Roberts gun.

Cross Check the serial numbers against when they
say they were made and the records - and of course
other similar guns from that era.

to my eye they both look like roberts guns, aimed for the american market. this must have been before they committed the ultimate act of treason, and sold the company to the "what quality"rouqe river shop.

SERIAL NUMBERS 3348 and 6460 ?

A BIG GAP IN THE NUMBERS.

Anyone know the numbering system for Rigby Bolt guns ?

I don't have access to my info ATM.

this is what the company was pushing out in the 60s to the early 80s but ive seen uglier things come out of england, ever see those lloydd rifles !!!wtf!!bramble you,ve must have seen them i think they are out of business nowadays, ,wow,....... i,ll put my life on it that these 2 rigbys are original guns. bolt handles and all
the classic british look did not come back nor was appreciated again till the late 80s this is when the styling came back to what was "pre war", and what we now like again ...paul

Yes I ve seen the Lloyd guns, there were 2 in the Holts sale in June or september I cant remember which. One I think a 375 and the other a 458 from memory. I am not sure if they are still in business. I certainly wouldent have wanted to grab for the bolt handle in an emergency ouch!

They made I think suprising money, not that much short of the 375 McMilllen in the same sale which, though not my taste in finish, was a very nice working rifle. I think that was a case of England 0 USA 1

bramble, have you been to i.m. crudgingtons in bath , i went there amongst othere gunshops in england about 12 years ago. he was in the midst of building his own magnum mauser, a one off for someone in the middle east . he has the records for george gibbs rifles and confirmed 2 serial numbers for me of guns that were not marked, but were gibbs guns

About 25 years ago I was in Crudgingtons & was privileged to be able to handle what I was told was the last 505 that GIbbs ever made. At that time it was possible to believe it would remain so, big game cartridges were probably at their nadir. It was built on (from memory) a single square bridge magnum Mauser action, still in the white & with a fair patina from being handled. I remember well the friendliness & willingness to "chat" to a young Kiwi, something that was not as obvious in the London gunrooms.

It never occurred to me to take pics of it, ("duh"), & of course it was well pre digital anyway. Aaaah, Memories.

I suspect that someone has liberated that gun from them a long time ago. It wasn't actually for sale at the time but everything has its price.
