Rust pitting repair ... best method?
      #114935 - 20/09/08 12:25 PM

I have a Lee Enfield SMLE that I'm getting parts together to make into a Lee Speed sporting rifle. There is some deep rust pitting on the back of the receiver, behind where the bolt handle rests. Can these pits be welded up and then filed down without it being too noticable? The rust itself has been stopped.

Suggestions?

If you have pits serious enough and deep enough that you think they need welded up find a different action. Otherwise just draw file them out.
