Which ones will take the big round?

All the full size presses will handle the Rigby. I've used an RCBS for a while.

I use an old RCBS JR press I got right out of high school, 39 years ago. It works just fine. The Rigby is an easy one to reload.

For one thing, with that tremendous powder charge a minor variation in the powder drop doesn't have much effect on accuracy or pressure. I use a powder measure when loading the Rigby, while I dip and weigh for the smaller, hotter calibers. When I had a 416 Remington I always weighed every charge. It seemed to be a highly sensitive round to any minor variations in components, while my two Rigbys have not been.

Any good modern press will get you going, but I wish the JR press had a longer stroke when it comes to seating bullets.

The Lyman crusher press is a cheap way of getting into a long throw press for big cartridges but they have a wobbly handle with a spongy feel and IMO are really a pussy press as far as resizing goes.
I have one here which is only used for seating bullets in long cases like 470.

Thanks for that I was thinking of a crusher!
I have a LEE at the moment, might look at the RCBS.

Bakes,
Don't get me wrong, the crusher is capable of doing the job including resizing and at the price they are one of the cheapest long throw presses.
Basicly the crusher uses a bodged version of the compound linkage geometry used on presses with throws capable of only standard length cases.
The bodge includes kicking the handle out at an angle and this gives the action of the press a spongy feel.
They do however have a large dia ram and their "O" frame is pretty solid.
Comparing the crusher to my 25 year old master symplex though, and the action on the crusher does appear to be in the pussy class.
My old master symplex can handle some bullet swaging chores ok but try the same job in the crusher and it struggles.

The new Rock Crusher press from RCBS is a bit longer than the older one. I have a RC from 1968 and it does my Rigby ok, but the extra half inch in the newer ones would be real nice.

Redding has their Ultra Magnum press and that is indeed a class act. RCBS also has their AmmoMaster press and that will also do a 50 BMG without a hitch. I believe the Dillon 550B will do a Rigby as well, although I am not sure you need the capability of loading 600 rounds an hour of Rigby ammo. If you do, my hat is certainly off to you...

What I'm after is a solid press. My Lee broke when things got abit loose, my fault there. I'll be in the Eastern states in November, might have a look around then.

You won't have any problem with either of the RCBS or the Redding units. The Ultra Mag from Redding and the AmmoMaster from RCBS are really top of the line, with higher price tags. The RCBS Rock Chucker is very solid, a standard in the industry, and can be had mail order.

Check out www.Midwayusa.com I believe they carry all of these and you can mail order them as well.
