Gosh, Rigbymauser,

You are one lucky devil and I mean this is the most complimentary sense possible! Please don't keep us waiting for the pictures very long. We are like young kids waiting for candy when it comes to fine guns here.

Very good hunting!

The serie# is 2483 and is found on the triggerguard. The reciever frontring has the "BU".
In the riflestock there is a number "2483" + "233".
This gun here has a steel buttplate with a trapdoor.

WEll...Denmark is "Denmark"...I don`t know pennsylvania all that much

I just talked with Paul Roberts & Son London. This gun here was made for General A Sampson in 1905.

Nice rifle

I just saw a Mod B Obendorf Mauser in 9.3X62 on Tuesday! It is in very good condition with full bluing & Mauser butt bad. it has German claw bases. I wonder how difficult it is to fit new rings & a scope on this. The price looks good at US$2300.

There is no external pittings..and the rifling very good all the way out with slight traces of cordite etchings. The checkering is all gone+ some nicks, marks are found thru out the stock.

This rifle here will be restored 99%. It deserves it...like an old house with a great architecture

Personally, I don't think I'd remove the claw bases as long as they're in good working condition. It would be nicer to have your gunsmith set up a pair of mounts to fit it.

Erik
I agree. I was wondering what it would cost to put new rings on the current bases.

Was at a gunshow a couple of weeks ago--they had a RigbyMauser in .275...pretty nice condition but the guy wanted $7500. US ...thought that was a bit on the steep side..

Yes..I would think so too. The .275 Rigbymauser is not such a rare gun..If you want one you can find one real easy

THe Rigby-mauser has just arrived at the gunmakers shop. Their statement was, that this gun, especially the mecanical/metal part is x-tremly smooth and yet in tight condition. The wood does need a "total makeover", but nothing that was impossible. The express sights leafs including the capesight are tight and not sloppy. I haven`t yet had the rifle in my hands...but it is nice to have something to look foreward to..
